Prophecy Unfolding: The Signs of Christ’s Return and the War of Gog and Magog
Before exploring this topic, please remember this article is based on personal biblical study and interpretation. Readers are encouraged to research independently, reflect through prayer, and draw their own conclusions.
To first understand whether Jesus Christ may return in our lifetime, we must look carefully at the signs written in Scripture.
Many of these signs, prophesied thousands of years ago, appear to be unfolding in our world today.

Ezekiel’s Prophecy and Modern Parallels
The following passages from the Book of Ezekiel, in my interpretation, describe events that appear to align with modern global tensions. Again, these are personal understandings and not definitive declarations.
Ezekiel 39:1
“You, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: Look, I am against you, Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.’”
Simplified meaning: You, son of man, prophesy against the leader of nations. “I am against you, Prime Minister of Russia and Turkey.” (Biblically, Meshech and Tubal are understood as regions within ancient Turkey.)
Interpretation update:
This could connect to recent developments where Turkey and Israel discussed a pipeline to Europe. Such an alliance could provoke tensions with Russia. These possibilities, while speculative, appear to set the stage for the Gog and Magog prophecy.
Ezekiel 39:2
“I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north and send you against the mountains of Israel.”
Simplified meaning: I will give you a reason to fight against Israel.
Ezekiel 39:3
“Then I will strike your bow from your left hand and make your arrows drop from your right hand.”
Simplified meaning: I will confront you directly—you won’t know what has struck you.
Ezekiel 39:4
“You shall fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your hordes… I will give you to the ravenous birds and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.”
Simplified meaning: You will fall before me, and your defeat will be witnessed by all creation.
Ezekiel 39:5
“You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
Simplified meaning: You will perish; my word is final.
Ezekiel 39:6
“I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.”
Simplified meaning: Even those living in distant lands will feel my power and recognize my name.
Ezekiel 39:7
“I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned…”
Simplified meaning: The world will know that the Lord has returned.
Ezekiel 39:8
“The day is coming when these things will happen, just as I have promised.”
Simplified meaning: This prophecy will be fulfilled in its appointed time.
Ezekiel 39:10
“They will not need to gather wood from the fields or cut it from the forests, because they will use the weapons for fuel…”
Simplified meaning: In the future, energy sources will come from the remnants of war. Conflict will even be driven by the fight for fuel.
Ezekiel 39:11
“On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel… it will block the way of travelers.”
Simplified meaning: The leader and his armies will meet their end, and their resting place will be remembered as a warning.
Ezekiel 39:12-13
“For seven months the Israelites will be burying them… the day I display my glory will be a memorable day for them.”
Ezekiel 39:15-16
“Anyone who sees a human bone will leave a marker beside it until the gravediggers bury it in the Valley of Hamon Gog… Even the city will be named Hamonah.”
Simplified meaning: The land will be cleansed over time; even the cities will bear witness to this act of divine judgment.
Ezekiel 39:17-18
“Speak to every sort of bird and to every beast of the field: Assemble and come to my sacrifice… you may eat flesh and drink blood.”
Simplified interpretation: The Lord is displeased with humanity’s unnecessary violence toward His creation; this may symbolize divine retribution, where the oppressors become the consumed.
Ezekiel 39:19-20
“You will eat fat till you are full and drink blood till you are drunk… You will be filled at my table with horses and mighty men.”
Simplified meaning: Those who lived in excess and ignored God’s warnings will face His correction and see His justice revealed.
Ezekiel 39:21-22
“I will display my glory among the nations… From that day forward the people of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God.”
Ezekiel 39:23-24
“The nations will know that the people of Israel went into exile for their sin… I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their offenses.”
Simplified meaning: The people will understand that their suffering came from disobedience, and the world will recognize God’s sovereignty.
Ezekiel 39:25-29
“I will be merciful to Jacob’s descendants… I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel.”
Simplified meaning: After a time of trial, mercy will follow. The Lord will restore His people and dwell among them again.
Ezekiel 39:9, 39:14, and 40:1
“For seven years they will use weapons for fuel… After seven months they will carry out a more detailed search… In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, the LORD took me there.”
Simplified meaning: There will be seven years of war and cleansing, followed by restoration and revelation. God shows Ezekiel the future as a vision of what is to come.
Ezekiel 40:45
“This chamber which faces south is for the priests who keep charge of the temple.”
Ezekiel 43:7
“Son of man, this is the place of my throne… where I will live among the people of Israel forever.”
Simplified meaning: The Lord’s temple will be rebuilt, and His eternal kingdom will be established.
In Summary
These passages, in my interpretation, reveal that we may be approaching a prophetic era described long ago. Global alliances, wars over resources, and moral unrest all seem to echo the signs written in Scripture.
If these interpretations are correct, the temple will one day be rebuilt, and the Lord will return to reclaim His creation, restoring balance and truth.
If you are reading this after 2022, perhaps much has already changed. But even so, take heart—our Lord is coming. With the world in turmoil, nations in conflict, and the Earth experiencing the “birth pains” mentioned in the Bible, every sign points to His soon return.
Amen.
